As with everything else in Albion Online, when I first had to figure out how mounts work, I had to start taking notes and comparing stats. After purchasing animals that can be turned to mounts (instead of the mounts themselves), and wasting a few hours researching about their traits, I came up with this guide in order to help fellow adventurers.
In the first section, I’m proposing the best mounts for each playstyle, so you can find what fits you the quickest, and set your goals. For the data lovers (me), there is the 2nd section, where all mounts are broken down by Tier, and you can compare all their unique stats.
Let’s begin!
The Best Mounts in Albion Online
What I love in Albion, is that there are different items / weapons / mounts etc. for every occasion and player preference.
“Having the right tool for the job” is critical in your survival (don’t forget that after Tier 5 you will start PvP, whether you want or not!) in Albion, and will be the deciding factor in a fight / escape.
The Fastest Mount
When you are ganking other players, or you want to stay safe from ganks, speed is paramount.
The fastest a mount is, the more it has to sacrifice for weight limit and / or defense, but there are cases where that extra speed can save your life, or make you the most fearless ganker in your area.
Below you will find the fastest mount in Albion Online for each Tier:
When you are serious about gathering resources (especially in safe / blue zones where no one can hurt you), moving around with the toughest mount is paramount (see what I did there?)
Oxen are the most popular “huge weight-limit” mounts in the game, and will accompany many of your farming trips. However keep in mind that the more dangerous (and populated) a red / black area is, the more dangerous it will be to go around in your ox. It’s tough, yes, but it’s slow. And trust me you are going to need every seconds if you want to get out alive with all the resources you were working hard to gather all that time!
Of course if you are looking to transfer your stuff between storages, it’s the only solution, and the best one is the Mammoth, for it’s insane weight limit!
Again, below are the best mounts for weight capacity by Tier:
Tier 8 – Elder’s Transport Mammoth – 41.162kg & Saddled Direbear for “safe” gathering with 2.469kg, 50% Move Speed & 90% Gallop Speed.
Tier 7 – Grandmaster’s Transport Ox – 3.583kg & Flame / Venom Basilisk with 3.311kg & 40% Move / Gallop Speed. Last but not least, Saddled Direboar is the best of both worlds, with 1.433kg, 60% Move Speed & 105% Gallop Speed.
Tier 6 – Master’s Transport Ox – 3.148kg & Master’s Giant Stag for quick escapes with 594kg, 70% Move Speed & 115% Gallop Speed.
Tier 5 – Expert’s Transport Ox – 2.676kg
Tier 4 – Adept’s Transport Ox – 2.331kg & Adept’s Giant Stag for your first trips to Tier 5 areas, with 465kg, 70% Move Speed & 105% Gallop Speed.
Tier 3 – Journeyman’s Transport Ox – 1.569kg
The Gatherer’s Secret Weapon
Even though mentioned above, these lovely stags are worth their own section!
Adept’s Giant Stag & Master’s Giant Stag are two exceptional mounts, for the single fact that they are fast enough (faster than their Tier’s Horses), and can carry quite a lot of weight for quick farm runs (almost double than horses).
The All-Around Solution
When you simply can’t decide, or you just want an all-around solution for some cases, the Saddled Direboar / Direbear are the best choice (although they are Tier 7 & 8, so they concern the late game).
They have great movement, great defense, and great weight capacity! They don’t excel on any of these fields, but they are more than average in all, so be on the lookout for them!
