octane is one of the most offensive and quickest Legends in the game,
he utilizes his Stim in order to move faster at the cost of his health, but Swift Mend has him covered as it allows him to regenerate his lost health over time, and finally his ultimate is his trust worthy Launch Pad which once stepped on by any Legend they get catapulted in the air making high and hard to reach distances a breeze.

One day, Octavio Silva was bored. In fact, he was bored most days. Heir to the preoccupied CEOs of Silva Pharmaceuticals and wanting for nothing in life, he entertained himself by performing death-defying stunts and posting holovids of them for his fans to gawk over. So, this day, he decided to set the course record for a nearby Gauntlet by launching himself across the finish line – using a grenade. He later recounted that day as the single greatest day in his life.
As he lay in triage hours later, the doctors informed him that the damage done to his legs meant his daredevil days were over. That didn’t sit well with Octavio, who turned to an old friend for help: Ajay Che, who he guilted into forging an order to replace his legs with bionic ones. Suddenly able to repair his limbs at a moment’s notice, Octavio decided petty online stunts weren’t enough: the ultimate adrenaline rush, the Apex Games, was calling. Now, he’s going to become an Apex Champion doing the most incredible, death-defying moves anyone’s ever seen. Maybe in the arena, he won’t be so bored.

Stim is a pretty straight forward and basic skill but can be used in a lot of situations, for example if you are in a fight and you haven’t used your Stim you can activate it and jitter strafe a lot faster while aiming down sights which makes you a harder target and might get you the kill easier, this comes with a disadvantage though as you have to practice aim tracking at your enemy faster than you did before.
Another thing Stim is useful for is when healing, you can activate it while healing to speed up like you are normally running and get away from sticky situations that require you to be just a little faster.
Stim is also useful for meeting up with your teammates in a fight when you are left behind, flank enemies when they are low in health and attack them when using their healing items which is their most vulnerable moment or use it to escape dangerous situations, in more advanced plays you can use Stim right after you have knocked down an enemy and then use it to go around the area of the battle so you can reload your weapons, confuse your enemies and try and get that second knockdown in case the enemy team decides to revive their buddy.
If something slows you down you can activate the Stim to cancel the slow effectÂ

Octane isn’t known for the complexity of his skills and Swift Mend is again a very simple Passive that restores his health when he is not receiving any damage, this ability is best used in combination with a Syringe when your health is nearly half so you can wait for some seconds and use it in order to save up your Medkit for tougher fights.

Launch Pad is very useful for reaching high places and engaging or disengaging fights really fast, when you run over a Launch Pad pressing space will boost your jump a little higher although there is still a bug that causes you to hit an invisible ceiling resulting you into staying there without going nowhere so you have to time it just a little bit after you begin ascending.
Pressing space mid air will allow you to double jump, this has completely changed the way you play Octane because now you can knock down an opponent before even hitting the ground just remember to keep your weapon aimed down the sights, without aiming you will have a much harder time placing shots.
You can place a Launch Pad between a door frame to defend yourself for a while and dissuade the enemy from entering, if you are indoors and there’s another entrance you can simply block it by standing right behind the door, making the entrance where you place the Launch Pad the only one that’s available thus forcing the enemy using that one, if they really need those kills that is.
Another useful thing the Launch Pad can do is give you the opportunity to jump onto a zipline without having to go it’s starting point.
Ping the Launch Pad so your teammates will know it’s there in order to use it.
Throwables and some skills can bounce off the Launch Pad.
Season 8 introduced some new changes to Octane’s Launch Pad.
This is the most lethal combo there is in the game right now and the reason is the Hop up Mozambique and P2020 cant take, the “Hammerpoint” Hop up.
This Hop up allows you to deal damage to enemies who have no shields so it’s really useful in Octane’s hands because combined with his movement speed and the damage it deals it can easily finish an opponent so he can move to the next one.
The best way to play this combo is to use the Volt SMG or the Prowler SMG first to quickly destroy the enemy shields and then switch to the pistol of your preference with that Hop up equipped to get that knockdown.
The Prowler SMG can go full auto with the “Select fire” Hop up, equip Extended Heavy Magazines and the best scopes for it is the 1x HCOG although the 1x Holo works good as well. It can also equip the 1x Digital Threat which is quite useful for seeing enemies with a red outline inside smoke or by other effects that obstruct your view.
While the Volt might be an energy SMG and can take all the scopes mentioned above the best one for it is the 2x HCOG Bruiser or the 1x-2x Variable Holo as its recoil is very easy to control and it can equip an Extended energy mag as well.
NOTE: The “Hammerpoint” Hop Up has been removed for Season 9, and since those weapons might not be that viable anymore you can switch them up with Shotguns.
This is the hit and run combo, this one is for those long/mid range engagements that you might get to crack a shield, and then you will either move in for the knockdown by using your Mastiff or switch covers to shoot at your enemies again until you get the chance to push one of them safely in order to get the knockdown and in best case scenario a quick elimination.
The Mastiff is a Shotgun that benefits more from being aimed down the sights because the spread of the pellets is reduced so Octane’s Stim and aiming down the sights gives him the advantage over any other enemy, except well other Octane’s of course.
It can equip Shotgun Bolts and the higher level the faster it fires but other than that most players prefer to play with the vanilla sights, unless they pick up a 1x Digital Threat.
The R-301 is the standard Assault Rifle, it has a fast rate of fire and an easy to control recoil. It is recommended to equip it with a 2x HCOG Bruiser or a 1x-2x Variable Holo.
It’s one of the best weapons to poke on enemies provide suppressive fire and if you have mastered its recoil, hit multiple head shots and even go for a knockdown.
NOTE: The “Anvil Receiver” Hop Up has returned to the loot pool for Season 8.
NOTE: The Peacekeeper is back for Season 9 and is a good alternative to the Mastiff.
NOTE: The “Anvil Receiver” Hop Up is vaulted for Season 10.
This combo is for precise strikes and acrobatics, with this combo you get the movement speed the Wingman offers while aiming down the sights with combination of Octane’s Stim and the Launch Pad will make you a much harder target.
With this combo you can get the chance to use Octane’s Launch pad and the double jump it offers and while aiming down the sights you can knock at least one opponent before even hitting the ground.
You can choose to engage with the Wingman for shorter distances but the Triple Take can engage from longer range or you can use it as a shotgun for shorter range by hip firing.
If you want to save some time before you hit the Launch Pad you should slide whilst sprinting and then aim down the sights to choke Triple Take’s barrel so you can prepare a powerful shot.
This combo isn’t that forgiving though and if you miss your shots while mid air you might be the one that gets knocked so you have to be confident in your aim.
The Wingman can equip the 2x HCOG Bruiser, a 1x-2x Variable Holo, 1x Holo, a 1x Digital Threat but most players prefer a 1x HCOG Classic and since Season 5 the “Skullpiercer Rifling” Hop up has returned in to the loot pool and deals 2x to 2.25x Headshot Damage.
The Wingman can also equip the newly added “Quickdraw Holster” Hop up which makes the weapon faster to draw, less time to ADS and has improved hip fire accuracy.
The Triple take can equip all the scopes available in the game but it’s a sniper so it’s best recommended to play with the 6x Sniper, the 4x-8x Variable Sniper and the 4x-10x Digital Sniper Threat.
It also has a secondary fire mode, the“Precision Choke” Hop up build in which chokes the barrel and compresses the spread of the bullets.
NOTE: For Season 9 the “Skullpiercer Rifling” Hop up has been removed from the loot pool.
NOTE: After Season 7Â a new hop up for the Wingman has been introduced, it is called “Quickdraw Holster” Hop Up which increases the speed of your ADS, Weapon Swap, and reduces Hip Fire spread.
NOTE: The Triple Take has been entered in the Care Package Rotation a good weapon to replace it is the newly added Bocek Compound Bow (Which can take two Hop Ups, “Shatter Caps” allowing your weapon to work like a shotgun and “Deadeye’s Tempo” that increases the rate of fire of your weapon when you firing at the perfect moment.
NOTE: The “Quickdraw Holster” Hop Up has been vaulted for Season 10 and is replaced by the “Boosted Loader” Hop Up which can be equipped by Wingman and Hemlok, this new hop up features a reload function that adds more ammo in the weapon if the player chooses to reload it before near the end of the magazine but not at 0.
Octane is the fastest and hardest to hit Legend in the game, he is one of the most offensive characters and his abilities are easy to understand but in order to master him he requires you to have good aim.
The reason for that is Octane’s movement speed which can be used against enemies mid fight and while strafing left and right, he becomes a much harder target and depending on the distance of the enemy you have to decide if you are going to play with hip fire or by aiming.
The pistols impact your movement speed while aiming the least, so you can combine aiming and his Stim to get the edge in winning the fight, Octane’s Stim cancels any slow effects as well but remember this only counts after you have been affected, if you have activated the Stim before you will be slowed.
Octane is primarily used offensively but since he is moving really fast he has the means to escape easier than other legends, for example if you finish a fight and you get third partied, if one of your team mates has a Lifeline or a Gibraltar they will become their targets.
As Octane you can provide suppressive fire so your team can escape and then you can dip with them.
Octane’s Swift Mend is a very basic passive and the only thing it does is to heal 1 HP every second that means that his weakest points are third parties, if you and your team finish a fight you should quickly loot what you need and leave the area immediately.
His passive can help you preserve more healing items than other legends.
Octane’s Launch pad is mostly used for reaching hard places which otherwise would require a long walk and a lot of climbing and for offensive plays, you can throw a Launch Pad when your enemy has cracked shields and tries to retreat or when they are behind cover and this is the only way to hit them, you can fire while mid air but in order to hit your shots you need to aim down the sights.
It’s a wasted effort to hip fire while using the Launch Pad, you will miss all of your shots so it’s better to just aim with whichever weapon you are using.
His ultimate can also work defensively as a trap between a door frame or small spaces, when the enemies see it they get discouraged of using that entry especially when it is in tight places and there’s no room for jumping over it.
