Cold Fear is a third-person survival horror game, the game takes place on a Russian ship. After an urgent call from the boat to the US coast guardship, Tom Hansen the main protagonist of the game finds himself alone on the ship with all his companions murdered by a mysterious creature, Tom must now unravel the ship’s mystery while fighting Zombie-like creatures hoarding all over the vessel.

The gameplay is seen from a third-person shooter perspective with an over-the-shoulder view when you aim. The main enemies are zombie-like creatures known as Exos, most of them can be killed by destroying their brains either by shooting them or knocking and stomping on their heads. Graphic wise the game looks stunning for a PlayStation 2 pushing the hardware to the limit delivering a well-crafted environment.

Resident Evil 4 is a survival horror third-person shooter game, this game defined modern TPS shooters alongside the gear of wars series. Agent Leon is back for another adventure, now the president daughter is kidnapped and Leon has to investigate the incident leading him to Spain.The player control Leon from a third-person perspective, the camera change when aiming to give a shoulder view which offers a whole new experience compared to the previous games.

The gameplay focuses on action and shooting elements with additional survival horror features, you have an arsenal of weapons at your service varying from pistols, knives, explosives, and sniper rifles, in addition when aiming you have a laser pointer allowing precise shooting control. Evil Dead: Regeneration is an action-packed hack n slash game, the game is based on the classic Evil Dead movie series released in the early 80s. The game takes place in an alternate reality between the second the third movie, instead of being sent back in time ash is in a mental health institute due to his previous actions, a doctor at the institute has gone mad releasing zombie-like creatures known as the Deadites.

The gameplay mostly consists of hack n slash elements with some light puzzle segments here and there, you can fight off hordes of Deadites using your chainsaw hands or using weapons found across the levels. Unique to the game you’ll have a sidekick at your service, Sam is a half Deadites you can use him to fight off enemies, solve puzzles and possess him to get through small openings. In conclusion, this is a love letter to the movie fans capturing the old laughable dialogue with a full alternate story to enjoy.

Resident Evil Dead Aim is a third-person survival horror light gun shooter (yeah it’s all of that), the game is part of the famous resident evil series and marks the first game in the series to try an action-oriented approach. The game is set four years after raccoon city’s destruction, a passengers ship has been infected by the T-Virus stolen from umbrella labs by a bioterrorist known as Morpheus Duval, unless his demands are met he threatens to send missiles carrying the virus to China and the United States.

You play as Bruce an American soldier who has been part of the anti umbrella pursuit and investigation team you soon meet up with a Chinese soldier who will help you on your mission and act as a second playable character. The game is seen from a third-person view when you move explore or solve puzzles, but when the player aims at the zombies the camera turn into a first-person view and plays like a light gun shooter. Overall the game offers new ideas blending several genres into a fine mixture of action and dreadfulness.

Curse: The Eye Of Isis is a third-person survival horror video game. The game takes place in the great Britain museum of natural history during the late 19th century, after a thief breaks in to steal the eye of isis statues, as a result of moving the statue from its position the eye of isis starts exerting a mysterious fog turning every individual in the museum into a zombie-like creature.

You start the game as Darien Dane a young adventurer who sneaks into the museum to save his childhood friend Victoria, you fight several creatures infected by the fog using a decent arsenal of weapons at your service,  the game borrows a lot from the early resident evil games offering a fixed camera view, limited resources, and some light puzzle-solving elements.

The X-Files Resist or Serve is a survival horror video game inspired by the famous X-Files tv series. Resident Evil – Code: Veronica is a survival horror video game, the game is a major installment in the Resident Evil series. The gameplay is hugely similar to the previous titles in the series, including a third-person look, exploring, collecting items, puzzle-solving, and fighting zombies, new to the game the camera is more flexible than the previous games, following the player instead of the classic fixed cameras. If you love hardcore classic survival horror code veronica is definitely worth it, as it aged well despite the hardware’s limitation.

Darkwatch: Curse Of The West is a first-person shooter video game blended with some horror elements. The game follows the story of Jericho Cross an outlaw robber who’s turning slowly into a vampire. Struggling between his humanity and his monstrous side, Jericho venture on a journey full of blood and revenge.

The gameplay is a mix of typical shooting sequences (handguns, crossbows, rocket launchers) and vampire supernatural powers (controlling enemies, x-ray vision, etc…). The main gimmick of the game is the multiple choices you can make during the course of the game, these choices will affect your status, as you can be good or evil every stat will give you different abilities to use, and of course, a different ending when you finish the game. Overall this is worth a try if you like dark and gritty stories with a sense of choice.
