Visual novels are super popular on the PS Vita, both due to their Japanese roots, as well as how engaging playing them can be on the Vita. A sweet OLED screen, easy navigation through dialogues with the touch screen, and of course, the much-needed portability when you just want to progress the story for just a few more minutes on the bus, or the bed! ?
Sadly there are many visual novels and otome games that never made it out of Japan, and it’s pretty much the hardest genre to play without knowing the language, since these games are all about reading! This list will stick with games that offer English subtitles & interfaces.
As an extra note to our male readers – don’t be afraid to pick up an Otome game if you’re a visual novel fan! Personally I’ve enjoyed a wealth of them, since you can get a different and unique perspective on how you approach the story, and usually the emotional parts are much more carefully crafted.
