Blur is an outstanding racing game that cleverly blends the kart racing genre with realistic tracks and vehicles. In Blur you participate in a series of street races where the goal is to reach the finish line first. However, there is a small twist to this formula, during races you can collect powerups that can be used to boost your speed, attack your enemies, and even set traps to slow down other players. The game features a wide range of realistic cars that range in types, including sports cars, compact cars, muscle cars, and many more.

Extra attention was put to tracks offering a realistic approach, where the streets and location are directly inspired by real-world locations. The single-player campaign is fairly challenging where you have to take on several challenges to progress, each part of the campaign is concluded by a boss battle. The game shines more in multiplayer, you can join in with up to 8 players online, and a four-player split-screen. Forza Horizon shocked the gaming industry when it first came out, becoming one of the most successful racing video game series to this day. Forza Horizon’s popularity began on the Xbox 360 with two titles, paving the stage for even greater success in the coming years. Forza Horizon 1 was released in 2012 and marked a break from the simulation model. The Forza Horizon series has to provide a hybrid of arcade and simulation gameplay while still including a massive open environment to explore. The game included a large roster of 200 completely licensed cars ranging from sports cars, and muscle cars all the way to old-school classics and many more.

Forza Horizon 2 improved on its predecessor’s concept by adding more options, more content, and better graphics. This time, the game sent the player to Europe, with sites in France and Italy. In comparison to its predecessor, the map was slightly larger, with major alterations and improved details. The material was significantly improved, with over 300 automobiles to pick from; this time, developers focused on European and exotic cars.

The game also incorporated new terrains with new mud, water, and gravel physics, which gave a new dimension to the whole experience. The game also had a novel dynamic weather system, where handling may differ depending on the weather. As a whole, Forza Horizon 1 and 2 are both must-plays on the Xbox 360 as they are still exclusive to the system to this day. The massive open environment and incredible automobile lineup make this worth the attention of any racing video game aficionado.

The game places you in the shoes of a racing driver competing in a reality television show. Your goal is to be the first to cross the finish line while having access to multiple shortcuts, powerups, and even the opportunity to trigger disasters mid-race. Perfect drifting, outwitting enemies, and a variety of other actions will fill your powerplay meter during each race.

By increasing the power play meter, you can cause plane crashes, tank explosions, and even buildings to collapse. Using these occurrences will always allow you to outwit other players and get an advantage during each race. The game looks great, with fantastic futuristic cars, a stunning post-apocalyptic setting, and steady framerates even amid explosions. Overall, Split/Second is an excellent little gem that may have slipped under the radar of many racing lovers; if you’re into destruction and post-apocalyptic settings, I advise you to pick it up right now.

The Project Gotham Racing series launched as an Xbox-exclusive game on the original Xbox. The series carried over its success to the Xbox 360 with two exceptional titles. Project Gotham Racing 3 was a launch title on the Xbox 360, which provided an opportunity for developers to showcase that the Xbox 360 is capable of delivering outstanding visuals compared to its predecessors and a massive amount of content to keep the player hooked on the screen for hours.

The following game in the series, and the last one to be released to this day, was Project Gotham Racing 4. The game maintained the fundamental mechanic of its predecessor with the Kudo system while also adding new gameplay features such as the ability to drive motorcycles. The visuals were also improved, carrying on the series’ tradition with one of the best graphics on the Xbox 360, providing a game that still holds up to modern-day challenges after all these years.

All in all, “Project Gotham Racing 3” and “Project Gotham Racing 4” are both highly respected racing game titles. While they share the same gameplay mechanics, every version features its own improvements and enhancements to look for. These acquisitions make them valued additions to the “Project Gotham Racing” series and the huge Xbox platform.

As the last game in the widely popular Driver series, Driver San Francisco was a departure from the GTA-like formula to a full arcade racing game. While the game was still open world, developers took down the ability to step out of your vehicle in favor of an action-packed story and more detailed physics and car selections. The story revolves around detective John Tanner, who gains the supernatural ability to shift between vehicles on the fly. This feature allows the player to switch between automobiles at any moment throughout the game, which is a novel notion not seen in any other game.

Following Tanner’s tale, the game has you purchasing the notorious criminal Charles Jericho, using your new ability you’re going to participate in various races, purchases, time trials, and many more. The game seamlessly combines the racing genre with a cinematic story filled with twists and action elements offering an engaging single-player experience never seen before in the series.

The game has aged very well in terms of visuals, with an amazing open world to explore, beautiful vehicles, and stunning story cutscenes. Overall, Driver San Francisco is a love letter to old-school fans who enjoyed the first titles on the mighty Playstation 1. The game lives up to its predecessor’s legacy with an excellent story and intriguing mechanics.
