Unlike its predecessors, the Xbox One is home to some of the best anime games ever made. From fighting games like Naruto Storm 4 to over-the-top action JRPGs like Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, this ongoing trend makes us hopeful enough to see more anime-oriented titles marching onto the platform.

Seeing such a platform with non-Japanese origins adopting anime games is pretty strange (in a good way) since previous generations of the Xbox haven’t enjoyed many anime games. The Xbox 360's library of anime games is small, but when it comes to the Original Xbox? the list is much smaller.

While it’s widely known that the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch are the best for anything anime-related, do not miss on these titles on the Xbox One. Fans of anything anime, and owners of Xbox One consoles should definitely check this list featuring the Best Xbox One/X Anime Games.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 prides itself as the series’ best Naruto game to date, and a legendary finale to an era. Although Naruto’s adventures have reached an end with him finally becoming a Hokage, the series has veered its focus towards Boruto, Naruto’s son.

Based on the original Naruto manga by Masashi Kishimoto, the game is brilliantly well-made. It plays great, looks amazing, and feels tight thanks to its engrossing controls. Developed by Cyberconnect2, it’s safe to say that the developers have outdone themselves with Naruto Storm 4.

They’ve previously worked on the Dot Hack franchise, yet another excellent JRPG, however, this last entry in the Naruto Storm Saga demonstrated the developers’ capabilities of exceeding expectations.

Demon Slayer is one of the most talked about anime to date, right there with Naruto and One Piece in terms of popularity. Seeing how its popularity soared after an anime adaptation of the manga was bound to spawn a game treatment sooner or later.

Players take control of Tanjiro Kamado, a young adventurer on a quest to turn his sister Nezuko, who has become a demon, back into her original human form. This 3D fighting game is surprisingly great. Its art style is almost identical to its anime counterpart, and it helps that every detail in the game is carefully treated.

You’d be surprised how much fun can The Hikkomori Chronicles be. After all, it’s developed by none other than CyberConnect2 themselves. And it’s one of the best Xbox One anime games you can play today.

Arslan Senki: The Warriors of Legend is a Musou hack-and-slash based on the Arslan Senki manga by Full Metal Alchemist author and artist Hiromu Arakawa. Following the events of The Heroic Legend of Arslan novel, the story puts you in the shoes of Prince Arslan who has been forced to quit the Pars Kingdom when its king has been stabbed in the back. Arslan will embark on an adventure to form alliances and gather an immense army to retrieve his kingdom.

Brought to you by the same developers behind the critically acclaimed Dynasty Warriors series, Arslan Senki: The Warriors of Legend has the same mechanics as its brethren, if not a bit better. This is one of the best-looking Omega Force games because it marries a well-made cel-shaded art style with some genuinely cool effects.

Most of the game is spent mopping the floor with thousands of non-stop enemies on the screen, so if you’re a fan of these Dynasty Warrior-style games, Arslan won’t disappoint you.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is one of the best anime games to be released; it faithfully emulates the Dragon Ball Z manga by Akira Toriyama, it is visually stunning because of its anime-like style, and most importantly, it’s a JRPG. So expect to sink hours upon hours as you roam planet Earth, brawling against various enemies and blasting them with your Kamehameha to oblivion.

Following the events of the original Dragon Ball Z manga, players experience the epic adventures of the Z warriors as they take on several villains threatening to destroy their beloved planet Earth. Unlike its predecessors, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi and FighterZ,  Kakarot is an open-world JRPG. As players progress further into the game, they can upgrade their characters’ stats. The more enemies you fight, the more powerful you become. It’s ironic because Saiyans do get powerful with each fight.

Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet is a break from the usual Japanese-role playing, visual-novel adaptations the SAO franchise was renowned for. Fatal Bullet is a new breath of fresh air because of its newly introduced third-person shooting with RPG elements.

Take control of your fully customized character who joins forces with Kirito’s guild to embark on an adventure. Fatal Bullets’ third-person shooting feels polished, though it requires a bit of practice in order to fully get the hang of controls. However, like all JRPGs out there, the game suffers from the excessive need for grinding syndrome for the game to feel slightly balanced.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 will surely please fans of the legendary One Piece manga by Eiichiro Oda, and it remains one of the best warrior-style that money can buy. Unlike the anime, this fourth instalment tells the events of the Wano Arc via the use of a modified plot.

Boasting up to 52 playable characters, players slash their way through an army of endless goons using various combo styles. Wiping the ground with enemies doesn’t get stale, especially if you’re a fan of the genre. But that’s not One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4‘s selling point, it’s the solid story that will keep you playing for a long time.

Persona 5: Royal has always sparked controversy about whether it can be considered an anime game or not. However, since Persona 5 has had an anime adaptation, it’s safe to say that the latter falls into the category of anime games. Previous instalments from the series like Persona 3 and Persona 4 have also received the same treatment.

Persona 5:Royal has got to be one of the best JRPGs to date. It’s visually stunning thanks to its incredibly-looking cel-shading art style.  On top of the mind-blowing visuals, Persona 5: Royal’s gameplay is nothing short but a blast. Fans of anime games, as well as JRPGs, will fall in love with P5 the moment they boot it up.

Attack on Titan’s video game adaptation feels like a dream come true. During the anime’s debut, fans have been asking for a game adaptation for years, only for Omega Force to answer the call. At first, gamers were pretty sceptical over how Omega Force would manage to pull it off, seeing that they’re known for their Musou games. Alas, the final result exceeded expectations.

Swing from one building to another with your fully made character as you slash through several difficult-to-handle titans left and right.  This is an incredibly satisfying fantastic RPG with hours of gameplay. From the mobility gear movements to slicing and dicing titans from all corners, Attack on Titans 2 is a recommended game for fans of the series and newcomers alike.

Scarlet Nexus may be just the game you’re looking for if you’ve just finished NieR: Automata. Its gameplay which is reminiscent of the latter may lure you to think that it’s an attempt to copycat PlatinumGames‘ masterpiece, however, the game manages to pull itself as an enjoyable stylish action RPG with a lot to offer.

The game’s story sees you controlling either Kasane or Yuito who are tasked with stopping one of the biggest threats humanity has ever faced: The Others, deranged mutants who feed on human brains.

One of the best aspects of Scarlet Nexus is its gameplay; It’s fast, makes you feel stylish, and is stuffed with various elements from the genre. Most of the game is spent battling the Others with the help of your friends who also possess similar powers as yours. What begins as a button-mashing feast quickly turns into a fast-paced action experience the moment your friends’ support is unlocked. This proves crucial against potent foes as they’ll put your skills and cooperation with your comrades to the test.
