It amazes me that there doesn’t exist an article on the internet, with a simple table list of all the armor sets in BDO. Sure, bddatabase.net is great, but if you actually want to compare a few sets or pieces, you’re going to need a hundred clicks, and a few different windows.
My aim with this article, is to create an easy reference to all the armor sets in Black Desert Online, so that new players and veterans alike, can come back to check on some stats, vision their gear, or learn the core differences between each chest, helmet, glove or shoe.
You can check a similar guide for accessories here. If you are new to the game, make sure to also check out our enhancing guide for BDO, since it covers everything you need to know about taking your gear to the next level!
Green Gear is the first “grade” of gear in the game, which is easily acquirable (on the marketplace or monster drops) even from your first few hours on the game.
There are many different sets, so we have sorted them from “worst to best” below.
If you are looking for a quick solution, you can’t go wrong with the Grunil set.
The following sets, have identical stats, and only their weight / set-effects change:
Many new players may mistake Fortuna for a good set due to the extra luck & movement speed – and to be honest it does help when you are new – but in essence but are very easy-to-get stats in other ways (magic crystals or passive buffs for example).

Most experienced players tend to choose Grunil as their green gear, since the extra AP & HP seem like the most reasonable buffs to go after when you want to level up & progress the map fast.

Heve is a nice Grunil alternative, if you feel you need more HP than AP, which is rarely the case. Keep in mind though, that the extra HP, along with the 1/4 weight of the Grunil set, it will make you last way longer while grinding.

Talis is a “step-ahead” from the previous sets stats-wise, and introduces different item effects per item.
However, the effects are quite weak for justifying using it. What might be interesting in some cases, is getting +3 movement, +1 critical and Jump Up, by combining the boots with the gloves, and leaving you the option to activate one more 2-set effect from another set.

The following sets have identical sets, apart from weight, and the fact Zereth Shoes are the same with gloves, in contrast with the Taritas & Steel Taritas ones:
Steel Taritas is completely identical to Taritas, only lighter and more durable. This makes it more expensive, as it can be used for building faster enhancement failstacks than its other green counterparts.

There is only two sets of blue armor in BDO, Lemoria and Akum armor.
Many may argue they are a “noob trap“, just like the Liverto (Blue) Weapons, since it’s better to save straight for boss-gear.
While this is not untrue, you “can’t go wrong” with having them, especially if you are careful with enhancement and durability.
The Skill XP +10% buff on Lemoria is very nice, and having a full set can go a long way with raising your alts as well. Akum is like a “pumped up” Grunil, so less worth it to spend on it.
Both sets ARE a way more expensive option than green gear, and they will set you back on your boss-gear acquirement, make no mistake about that, and judge for yourself.

This is the dream. This is the gear you want to have, and it won’t be easy, or cheap to acquire it.
It’s named “Boss-Gear” because it only (well, not only) drops from bosses, and the drops are quite rare, making these items hard to find on the marketplace, and quite expensive to pre-order, or a time-waste to “snipe” them from the market.
For the same reason, it’s quite difficult and expensive to repair its max durability (when it falls from failed enhancements), so most people use Memory Fragments (along with Artisan’s Memories) to restore it. These items are also hard to acquire, so you better save them up until you can spend them on your boss gear.
All the Boss Gear items count as if they are from the same set, so you can mix & match the ones you want, while getting their set effects:
3-Set Effect
4-Set Effect
While there’s only a “small” difference between the two chests, most people will sell their soul for Dim Tree and its extra HP.
And I mean that literally, since the preorders for a 0 level Dim Tree reach as much as 600 million silver (most boss-gear items go for roughly 100 million, and 150-200 preorder).
It’s not a rare occurrence as well, to find many Red Nose’s chests available on the marketplace for market price, since players really seem to be skeptical about them, and rather pay 5-6 times the price for Max HP, instead of HP Recovery.
And I don’t blame them, since the Red Nose’s Armor’s HP Recovery is significantly low, at 8HP / 10 seconds. Oh will we ever learn what the devs are thinking…

Not much to say here, Griffon’s Helmet has an obvious advantage, though the gap between the two helmets isn’t that big.
Giath’s is just a bit weaker on the Damage Reduction side, while providing an item effect which is somewhat weaker as well.
5% to all resistance will let you take far more damage than +100 HP, so definitely try to get your hands on Griffon’s, even though it will be a bit harder / more expensive (preorders sit at 300 mil).

There is no actual choice you have to make here, since Leebur’s Gloves are not yet available in the EU / NA version of the game.
The stats for them have been taken from BD Database [dbdatabase.net], and their validity is unknown (they definitely have some “weird” stats).
Bheg’s are easy to get, and preorders are very close to the market price.

Last but not least, we have the boss-shoes, where the gap between the items drives a different playstyle.
Muskan’s have a clear Evasion advantage, while Urugon’s are way more beefy. You will have to judge for yourself.
Know though, that Urugon’s are pretty rare, and preorders for a 0 level go as high as 1.2 Billion silver. You have been warned.

As mentioned, the drop rates for boss-gear aren’t great, and most bosses are actually pretty hard to kill, depending of course and on the amount of people trying.
A pretty good tactic if you want to farm boss gear yourself, is to set up an alt in between the markers below:
You can see that Dastard Bheg, Dim Tree Spirit, Red Nose & Karanda (Awakening Weapon Boss-Gear) are pretty close with each other, making it easy to log in with your boss-alt, and take part in the fight.
Since the Field Bosses don’t have a set schedule like Karanda or Kzarka, your best bet for accurate boss notifications, is the IHAEU Discord Channel [discord invite link] (International Hunting Association EU), with many dedicated users that call bosses as they come out.
For more information, it’s best to check out our in-depth World Boss guide for BDO.

Real useful guide, spend some time looking for this so it’s good that its comprehensive and almost cover everything you need to know. I wish you could add or talk about the Berserker JIN BON WON combinations, it’s hard to find info about that. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.
Thanks Fernando!
Hmm, your choice of JIN / BON / WON will be determined by your available budget mostly, and your preference of their stats based on your character’s focus (weight limit? AP?), and the gear slot you are after.
Spending on these crystals, means you have at least full TET gear already, otherwise better not bother yet! They are too expensive, and your budget is better invested elsewhere!
Hi, I wonder about other armor pieces, like Ultimate Dobart, which is purchasable from that NPC in Calpheon. It seems like a good way to get LOTS of DP early on, compared to the other armor sets. I know it doesn’t have bonuses, but any reason you didn’t include it in the article?
Thanks for your comment Mike!
Well, there are too many “NPC” armor pieces in BDO, and no one is really going to use any of them (apart from the ones you receive from Black Spirit on the main quest).
It is interesting indeed to include a section with all the NPC armor pieces, I will schedule that for when I get the spare time!
I do suggest checking out our BDO database for more comparisons, since you can easily choose the enhancement levels and see all the relevant armor / weapon / accessory pieces at a glance. For example, check out the Grunil Armor page.
Would you consider on placing Total AP per item / Per Set for newer players?
I’m not sure I understand Cydafex!
All the totals are in there, but AP comes from weapons & accessories, very few armor pieces provide any AP bonuses (like Grunil set).
I’ve done a separate article on all accessories here https://altarofgaming.com/black-desert-online-accessory-sets-pve-pvp-green-blue-yellow-grade/ and the one for weapons is still work in progress!
This is great!! you wouldn’t happen to be planning to put out a similar thing for weapons would you?
Cheers mate! I am actually! The one for accessory stats is already up, and I’m now working on the weapons 😀
Excellent bro! Thanks!
Cheers Lucas 😀
Havent you heard about bdoplaner?
Yes, what about it?
Can you link me to a page from bdo planner where I can see all the information of this article on one page?
Thank you for putting this together. I find this much more convenient to give to people than a full gear planner setup. It makes comparison much easier.
Thanks a lot for your comment Rob!
That’s exactly what I was going for 😀
A similar article for weapons & another one for accessories are almost ready to be published too!
Nice chart gives people something to think about when they are looking to buy or farm these items.
Cheers Adam!
I’m glad you’ve found it helpful 🙂
