Lafi Bedmountain’s Upgraded Compass and Archaeologist’s Map are part of the available treasure items in Black Desert Online. Like all similar treasure items, these are very difficult to obtain, and cannot be easily obtained with RNG, they can only be obtained with a lot of work and perseverance, but even so, they can take months to get. However, if you get it, you will get great help from them by their amazing abilities.
Extremely low drop rate. It can be 0.005% for some parts or 0.0025% for more extreme parts. You should also pay attention to which areas are being dropped by which monsters.
It takes months. If you think about the numbers above, it sure isn’t a challenge that can be accomplished in a few weeks. In return for long, monotonous activity, you get a very rare relic.
And when you finally grab it, the whole server will see a pop-up message that you got this rare item. This is your glorious moment. 🙂
Lafi Bedmountain’s Upgraded Compass is a permanent compass that helps you to navigate to places where the map feature is not available, and it has a special ability to summon other adventurers to the bearer’s position. Of course, there is a cheaper alternative to this item, let’s look at the pros and cons compared to each other:
Lafi Bedmountain's Upgraded Compass | Ancient Explorer's Compass |
---|---|
Permanent | 3 days expiration time |
Can summon another adventurer | Cannot summon another adventurer |
Hard to get | Easy to get |
Consists of 6 parts | Consists of 3 parts |
Obtained by collected items | Obtained by purchased items (costs millions of silver) |

You need a total of 6 different materials to create Lafi Bedmountain's Upgraded Compass. Upgraded Compass Parts are core materials that share the same appearance when it is first obtained but their true shape can be revealed when they are identified by NPC Ain Greid at Ancient Fissure. The appearance of each Upgraded Compass Part depends on the monster that dropped it.
How to identify?
Visit NPC Ain Greid at Ancient Fissure, and choose the ‘Ask him to appraise the parts’ dialogue. This reveals the true icon of the items.
You can combine the parts without appraising the compass parts, but this feature makes your job easier when it comes to arranging the items.
Since these items are rare, you can boost your chance with buffs that give you Drop Rate.
To be able to farm effectively in these places, I strongly recommend that you start farming in these places with at least 240 APs.

Archaeologist’s Map can teleport you to the nearest town, and also can return you to the position where you used it. It has a cooldown when you used it, but in practice, this item is the endless edition of the Travel’s Map. Let’s also look at how there are differences between pros and cons:
