BBTag’s roster is one of the best gifts Arc System Works has given us, pitting together 4 huge franchises, and a few extra standalone characters that anime fans will love!
Character Selection Screen, BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle
The BlazBlue franchise gets the biggest attention obviously – this is a BlazBlue game after all, with 17 characters from the Centralfiction game. Then comes Persona 4 Arena as the main selling point, a great anime fighting game that PC users never had the chance to play before, including all 13 original characters!
Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r] (known as Late[st] until the recent name change) is a close third with 12 characters, while RWBY gets only 5 – well, it’s an anime turned hack n’ slash RPG, so that makes sense!
A few more fan service additions include 1 character from Arcana Heart 3 LOVEMAX SIXSTARS!!!!!!, the well-known anime brawler, 1 from Senran Kagura Estival Versus, a famous anime hack n’ slash franchise, and 2 characters from Akatsuki Blitzkampf, an original Japanese 2D fighting game.
I definitely suggest you go for the Special Edition of the game, as it includes all 33 extra DLC characters, as well as a few extra goodies:

Are you fans of any of the series in the game? Each series is missing cover characters you’d expect to be in the game. The roster in FighterZ and P4AU are much better because of the chosen reps. Sure BBTAG has a big roster but it misses the mark for what it originally was revealed to be and doesn’t do justice at all for any DLC series.
Well in these cases there’s always going to be favorites missing!
I don’t have any experience with P4A sadly, since PC players get no love yet! I’d buy it in an instant though, if we get it on Steam one day!
On the BB / UNIB front I’m definitely satisfied with the roster, and also AH3 + Senran Kagura – just wish we got at least 1 more character for each! ?
On the RWBY front I can’t complain either, as I’m not an anime fan – I do love anime games though!
Your wish is granted, Persona Ultimax is coming to PS4, Switch, and PC! FINALLY.
The rerelease will include all of the post release DLC content and will be based on the 2.5 version exclusive to japanese arcades, and from the looks of it, it looks much better than the original console release before 2.0!
