For Honor boasts a huge and diverse roster of 28 heroes, split into 4 Roles (Assassin, Heavy, Hybrid & Vanguard) and 4 Factions (Knight, Viking, Samurai & Wu Lin). Each hero uses a unique weapon, as well as Feats that let you customize his / her playstyle even further.
As it’s expected from a hero-based action game, the roster keeps getting bigger and bigger! More specifically, the heroes can be acquired from the following DLCs (or purchased individually with the in-game currency Steel):
- Standard Edition – Berserker, Conqueror, Kensei, Lawbringer, Nobushi, Orochi, Peacekeeper, Raider, Shugoki, Valkyrie, Warden, Warlord
- Year 1 Season Pass – Aramusha, Centurion, Gladiator, Highlander, Shaman, Shinobi
- Marching Fire Expansion – Jiang Jun, Nuxia, Shaolin, Tiandi
- Year 3 Season Pass – Black Prior, Jormungandr, Hitokiri, Zhanhu
- Year 4 Season Pass (sold separately for now) – Gryphon, Warmonger
Starter vs Standard Edition: The Starter edition of For Honor is cheaper, comes with Warden, Raider & Kensei fully unlocked (3 Vanguard heroes), and based on the faction you choose (Knight – Peacekeeper, Conqueror, Lawbringer | Viking – Berserker, Warlord, Valkyrie | Samurai – Orochi, Shugoki, Nobushi), you get to unlock 3 heroes from that faction (which will also cost an extra 500 Steel to be recruited). The Standard Edition, offers all 9 heroes to be recruited for an extra 500 Steel.
It’s also worth noting that all heroes can be unlocked with the in-game currency Steel, however doing so means you will miss out on any extra content included in the DLCs (like the Arcade Mode added with the Marching Fire expansion).
