MapleStory Classes - All 29 Characters & What to Play

MapleStory has always been famous for its vast selection of classes, with diversity to fill any playstyle’s needs, and unique personalities that shine through tons of class-based quests, stories and even zones!

Each class belongs to one of the 11 Races by default, and aside from lore, these races don’t offer any additional passive skills or buffs. Every class also has its own unique weapon and spells, so their gameplay heavily varies.

The class system in MS promotes leveling multiple classes by design – and you can even get account buffs doing so – so don’t stress too much with the decision! Just start with what looks the best, and go from there! ?

Adele

Adele, MapleStory Class

Race: Flora
Class Description: Adele is a High Flora of Grandis and an honorable knight who was locked away In the Void for reasons unknown. After being trapped for ages, the desperate prayer of a boy from another land summons Adele back to reality.
Class Abilities: Adele wields aether swords conjured from pure magic. Guided by her will, they strike without her ever touching them.

Angelic Buster

Angelic Buster, MapleStory Class

Race: Nova
Class Description: Tear’s whole life changed the day she bumped into the wrong batch of evil priests at the wrong time. She’s stuck with a gaudy new bracelet and a dragon-ghost who loves frilly dresses, but when life gives you superpowers, you might as well become the awesomest superhero of all time.
Class Abilities: This class uses the Soul Battery system instead of MP, charging up skills as she attacks. Her damage potential is through the roof.

Aran

Aran, MapleStory Class

Race: Hero
Class Description: One of the five legendary heroes of Maple World. This powerful warrior held the Black Mage’s armies at bay with only a mighty polearm and a heart of steel.
Class Abilities: This class utilizes a special combo system that links together attacks based on your button presses, allowing for a variety of different approaches to any battle.

Ark

Ark, MapleStory Class

Race: Flora
Class Description: As a disenchanted member of the High Flora of Grandis, Ark became a victim of the Abyss when he dared to question his leaders. Now, with no memoiy of who he is or where he came from, he finds himself possessed by a Specter determined to take full control of his mind and body.
Class Abilities: Ark can freely shift between his Flora state to take advantage of the High Flora art of combat and his Specter state to draw on the Immense power granted by the Abyss.

Cadena

Cadena, MapleStory Class

Race: Nova
Class Description: Originally a member of the Grandis Nova class, Cadena spent years in a deep slumber recovering from a grievous injury. Now reborn as Cadena, she has vowed never to find herself the victim of her own weakness again. She will strengthen both body and spirit as a member of the Shadowdealers crew.
Class Abilities: Cadena’s chain an be used to attack an enemy or can be flung toward an enemy to dash. After learning the ways of street battles, Cadena has become adept at taking advantage of her surroundings and the unexpected weapons she may find there.

Cannoneer

Cannoneer, MapleStory Class

Race: Explorers
Class Description: The Cannoneer boarded a boat for adventure, but woke up shipwrecked on a deserted island with a cheeky monkey and a desperate pirate.
Class Abilities: This class wields a Hand Cannon to launch long-range power attacks. It also comes with a pet monkey!

Chase

Chase (Beast Tamer), MapleStory Class

Race: Beast Tamer
Class Description: Chase is a sweet kid from Arboren Island who joined forces with the Critter Champs. Now, the adventure to become the newest hero of Maple World is about to unfold through the magic of animal companions!
Class Abilities: Level up with the power of four animals, each with their own unique combat style. Mix and match their skills to create an effective team that delivers a fantastic battle every time.

Cygnus Knights

Cygnus Knights, MapleStory Class

Race: Cygnus
Class Description: The personal troops of the Empress Cygnus are known throughout the land as paragons of virtue and valor. Any one of them would fearlessly lead the charge against the Black Mage’s forces, even with the odds stacked against them.
Class Abilities: This class can advance to one of the following Jobs: Dawn Warrior, a master of the sword, Blaze Wizard, an expert at fire magic, Wind Archer, master of the wind, Night Walker who strikes from the shadows, or Thunder Breaker, an expert in linked attacks.

Demon

Demon, MapleStory Class

Race: Resistance
Class Description: Once a feared commander of the Black Mage’s Army, the Demon was betrayed and cast from the Black Mage’s graces. But the fires of vengeance do not die quickly, and the heroes of the past are always looking for help, even in the most unlikely of places.
Class Abilities: This class has two branching paths, neither of which rely on MP. The Demon Avenger uses Rage to fuel skills with HP. The Demon Slayer uses Demon Fury to build up strength for powerful attacks.

Dual Blade

Dual Blade, MapleStory Class

Race: Explorers
Class Description: These mysterious blademasters face an internal power struggle that threatens the future of their secretive organization, but a greater threat looms on the horizon.
Class Abilities: As the name suggests, this class uses a pair of bladed weapons to unleash devastating attacks. They also have the ability to create mirror images of themselves, enabling massive multi-hit combos.

Evan

Evan, MapleStory Class

Race: Hero
Class Description: A young farmhand and the last of the Onyx Dragons doesn’t sound like a recipe for heroics, but this pair of courageous mages will bring back the legacy of one of the most ferocious fighting forces ever to appear in Maple World.
Class Abilities: This class has 4 revamped job advancements, each offering new skills for both Evan and Mir.

Explorer

Explorer, MapleStory Class

Race: Explorers
Class Description: A new class of hero arrived in Maple World after the Black Mage was sealed away; the Explorers. These free-wheeling warriors of
fortune are known for their bravery and versatility, and can be found all over the world.
Class Abilities: This class can choose between jobs during their first job advancement, then specialize further with their second.

Hayato

Hayato, MapleStory Class

Race: Sengoku
Class Description: When destiny called in a far-off land, and the life of an empire laid helpless at the feet of a vicious tyrant, one brave samurai picked up a sword and charged headlong into battle. With the help of a young exorcist, Hayato will face the ultimate evil.
Class Abilities: Hayato relies on the strength of the Katana, slashing through enemies up close or charging the spirit of the blade to unleash devastation.

Hoyoung

Hoyoung, MapleStory Class

Race: Anima
Class Description: Hoyoung, a dashing rogue from Grandis is an Anima who learned the art of magic in the land of the sages. After releasing the seal of Taotie, a fearsome fiend who visited chaos upon Grandis in the distant past, Hoyoung departs from the tranquil valley he has long called home, setting off on a journey into the world.
Class Abilities: Hoyoung deftly wields magic corresponding to three fundamental attributes, along with powerful charms and scrolls. He’s also adept at creating and manipulating clones in battle to trick and bewilder opponents.

Illium

Illium, MapleStory Class

Race: Flora
Class Description: Illium, a descendant of the Verdant Flora of Grandis, possesses an exceptional talent for machine crafting. Now, the affinity for magic unique to the Flora has awakened within him and permanently linked him with the Ancient Crystal. As the only hope for the Flora’s future, he bears the heavy burden of ensuring their survival.
Class Abilities: Illium’s Crystal resonates with an ancient magic, amplifying his magical ability and vastly improving his combat skills. He ran fly free and deal powerful attacks while in Glory Wing mode.

Jett, MapleStory Class

Race: Explorers
Class Description: Jett and Burke made their names as one of the best bounty hunting duos in the universe, but a job from the royal family on planet Cerberus may reveal truths that neither of them was ready to face.
Class Abilities: This class uses the Core System to provide stat bonuses, including some that transfer to other characters on your account.

Kain

Kain, MapleStory Class

Race: Nova
Class Description: Kain belongs to the company that rules Toolen City, Grandis, from the bloodstained shadows. When he realizes his boss has been deceaving him, he fights to reclaim his lost past.
Class Abilities: He carries his signature weapon, Whispershot, and a melee weapon to finish his targets off. Blessed and cursed with ancient power, he releases his foes from the burden of life.

Kaiser

Kaiser, MapleStory Class

Race: Nova
Class Description: The Guardian of the Nova, the Warrior of the Red Flame. These titles are handed down over the generations to the same warrior with a new face. The realm of Grandis is at war, and a new Kaiser has emerged to save it.
Class Abilities: This class utilizes the Command Skill system to perform intricate combos based on your key presses. Each attack will also fill the Morph Gauge, unlocking a powerful, temporary transformation

Kanna

Kanna, MapleStory Class

Race: Sengoku
Class Description: Kanna’s destiny was foretold at birth, but fortunes can be deceiving. When an evil force threatens the safety of the empire, Kanna must join forces with a certain samurai to prevent the summoning of an evil beyond imagining.
Class Abilities: This class uses a combination of Fan attacks, ghosts, and a pet fox to battle evil in style.

Kinesis

Kinesis, MapleStory Class

Race: Telekinetic
Class Description: Kinesis is a just a normal boy from the real world… except for the awesome telekinetic abilities he’s developed! His powers allow him to move between the two worlds and become a true hero in both.
Class Abilities: He can control nearby objects and monsters, and can gather Psychic Points to power his ultimate skill that wreaks absolute havoc on his enemies.

Class Abilities: This class uses Light and Dark magic, granting powerful bonuses for keeping the two in balance.

Class Description: One of the five legendary heroes of Maple World. The young queen of elves was the first hero to break the Black Mage’s front lines, aided by dual crossbows and a temper like a thunderstorm
Class Abilities: This class is stylish and highly mobile,making for a real show-stopper on the battlefield.

Mihile, MapleStory Class

Race: Cygnus
Class Description: The Captain of the Cygnus Knights began life as a nameless storekeeper in tne middle of nowhere. Though the tale of his rise to power is fraught with strife, it was this struggle that made nim into the hero he is today.
Class Abilities: This class harnesses the power of light to unleash powerful attacks, and to nullify and counter enemy attacks.

Pathfinder, MapleStory Class

Race: Explorer
Class Description: Captivated by the allure of ancient artifacts, the Pathfinder traveled far and wide in search of these icons of bygone eras. But when she fell under a powerful curse while exploring ruins deep in the forest, she began to channel its tainted energy as her own.
Class Abilities: Granted mastery of the exotic Ancient Bow, she fights by linking her three core archery skills to charge up the power of her relic, then expending the relic’s built-up energy to loose powerful bolts of black, hex-touched energy.

Phantom, MapleStory Class

Xenon, MapleStory Class

Race: Resistance
Class Description: When the Black Wing’s top scientist made the ultimate soldier, he didn’t think they would escape. Now Xenon is on the hunt for lost memories, and the Resistance has a way to get them back.
Class Abilities: Xenon is a hybrid class that can use both Thief and Pirate skills. Skills can be swapped using the Modal Shift system, as the situation merits.

Zero

Zero, MapleStory Class

Race: Child of Time
Class Description: Before the Black Mage could seal away the Transcendent of Time, she created a child to carry her power. But that child has been split in two.
Class Abilities: Control both Alpha and Beta as they struggle to work together, and become the heroes they were born to be! Access a unique tag system that allows you to swap between different weapons and fighting styles on the fly. Use the Time Force to fuel a host of powerful time-based skills, unleashing devastating combos on anyone foolish enough to stand in your way.
