Mortal Kombat 2 Characters - Full Roster of 12 Fighters
The 2nd Mortal Kombat game offers a lot more than the 1st one, not just with its expanded character roster, but also a ton of new finishers and moves.
Mortal Kombat II builds upon the 1st one’s success, and offers more polished gameplay, a slew of new finishers (Babalities, Friendships and even more Fatalities per character), as well as an expanded character roster. Almost all characters from MK1 return (with Kano & Sonya missing), while 7 characters make their first appearance: Baraka, Jax Briggs, Kitana, Kung Lao, Mileena, Reptile & Shang Tsung!
It’s also worth noting that Jade, Noob Saibot & Smoke make their first appearance, as non-playable secret opponents:
- To unlock Jade as an opponent – Jade can be found in the Single-player mode’s 12th stage (a question mark shows at the stage indication instead of a character), but in order to fight her, you will need to win the previous stage by only using Light Kicks (directional inputs are allowed also, but blocking is not). Keep in mind that she’s immune to all projectiles.
- To unlock Noob Saibot as an opponent – Fighting Noob is a waste of time, as you will need to win 50 Versus matches in a row (or 25 in the Genesis / Mega Drive version). All sources agree to the same fact, but I haven’t personally tested this silly system.
- To unlock Smoke as an opponent – To fight Smoke, you must be currently fighting at the Portal stage, and at some point the game’s sound designer, Dan Forden, will show his face in the bottom corner and say “Toasty!”. When this happens, you need to hold down the Down direction, and press Start. If done correctly, you will fight Smoke at the next stage.
It’s unconfirmed that you can fight Jade out of the gate, by inputting Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Select during the character selection screen, as well as do the same for Smoke, by inputting Up, Left, Up, Up, Right, Select.
