The PlayStation 2 experienced a prosperous era during its heyday. The system offered an array of game genres across its library, including memorable role-playing games, boundary-pushing open-world games, and adrenaline-fueled hack-and-slash games. This diversity convinced the public that it was necessary to own a PS2.
The appeal of the PlayStation 2 extended beyond just its video games. The availability of controllers in various colour options added to the incentive for consumers to own Sony’s gaming console, and this approach proved to be highly effective. It even had an impact on other companies such as Nintendo and Xbox, inspiring them to follow suit.
Continuing from where the previous PS2 piece left off, today we’ll be delving into every PlayStation 2 controller ever released along with their elegant colour variations. Please note that this article will only cover officially licensed controllers. If desired, a separate article featuring a compilation of third-party PS2 controllers can be provided for readers’ interest.
NOTE: These controllers were first released on March 4, 2000, at a cost of ¥3500. Then, on June 27, 2002, the price was reduced to ¥2800. Multiple controllers are only a few months apart.
