The Talus is a type of Mini-Boss found in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It is a large, golem-like construct that can be found in certain locations within Hyrule. Talus is made up of several rock parts, including its face, body, arms, and legs. All of these parts can be destroyed by Link using his various weapons.

Like many monsters in the BOTW realm, Talus come in many forms that vary in look and abilities but they share the same weakness which is the big black ore on their back. However, they can drop useful rewards when defeated, such as different ores and gemstones. Today we are here to offer you our personal guide on how to defeat these bad boys without breaking a sweat so stick with us!

The Melee Method

Getting Ready

Alright while this method is pretty simple and easy to execute we got to get one item to make it work a Sledgehammer. We can get one easily by visiting the Foothill Stable as you can see in the image you can find one right at the front of the stable by the cooking pot.

The Strategy

Alright now we are ready to confront the Talus, just keep in mind that the Talus has one main attack where he launches his hands right at you. That’s why you need to keep moving in circles to avoid his attacks. Once close to the Talus approach his back and start climbing as fast as you can.

If you find this very difficult to execute no problem you can still use the stasis to freeze the Talus which will give you some time to start mounting his back. Once again you’ll find yourself at the back of the monster. Don’t panic just aim for the black ore on his back. You can do this by either spamming the attack button or the easiest way. Doing a spin attack by holding the attack button.

Range Method Using a Bow

Normal Arrows

Alright, this strategy is as simple as it gets you’ll need a decent bow and a dozen of normal arrows. As I said above you need to keep your distance avoiding the incoming rocks while running in circles. Once the black ore is at your range just shoot it down. The arrows are more than enough to bring down the Talus in no time but other types of Talos might be a bit stronger for normal arrows which bring us to our next strategy Bomb Arrows.

Bomb Arrows

Bomb Arrows are the most efficient with stronger Talos. Showering the Talus with these powerful arrows will get him down in no time saving your time and your precious meals for another occasion. As always you’ll need a decent bow and some dozen of Bomb Arrows. These can be easily acquired by vising the Gerudo Town shop or even the slippery falcon in Rito Village. Just like the normal arrows method, all you need is to keep your distance while staidly aiming for the black ore.

Rewards

As you can see here the Talus will generously drop some Gemstones. These ores can be used to upgrade your armor at the Fountain Fairy or you can sell them for some quick Rupees at any shop.
