The Chinese MMORPG “Justice” (逆水寒) has officially released in June 29th 2018 in China, by the billion dollar company NetEase. It honestly looks the most promising Asian MMO since Black Desert Online, both gameplay & graphics-wise, so follow this guide in order to install & play Justice Online in your PC, whether living in Europe, USA or the rest of the world.
You won’t need any VPNs or “special software” to make this happen, the only challenge – which we’ll help you solve – is going to be navigating through the game’s Chinese site, making sure you pick the right installation options, and create the character you really want!
It’s worth mentioning that Justice is one of the few games that support Nvidia’s RTX technology at the moment, so visual enthusiasts shouldn’t skip this one!
How to Download the Justice Online Client
As a first step, you will have to visit the official site n.163.com, and look for the download button as shown in the image above.
Alternatively, you can head straight to the download page for Justice.
Then, you will have the option to download the full game client (around 72GB), a toned-down version for older PCs (around 22GB), or the game’s latest patches.
The full client is the one marked on the left, while the smaller version is on its right:
You will now begin downloading an .exe setup file weighing around 100MB, that will let you open the game’s launcher, and execute the full installation / download.

After you have downloaded the .exe file above, simply launch it, and after authorizing UAC, you will meet this screen:

You can simply proceed with installation by pressing the blue button, or just click on “Custom Options” in order to change your installation folder, or your shortcuts:
After you start the Installation, a short download will begin, that will then open the Justice Online launcher. There, you will have to wait until your download is complete, so while waiting, let’s create a Justice account!
Note: I tried to install a Chinese language pack on Windows 10 in order to fix the gibberish that’s not encoded correctly, but it didn’t fix it. In case you found a way to fix that, let me know in the comments!
In order to setup your Justice account, click on the top right of the launcher, as shown in the image below:

In the next screen, you can either login or sign up, so we need to sign up for a new account, by clicking on the small letters in the bottom, as shown in the image:
This link will bring you to the account creation page, where you just have to input your preferred email & password. Make sure to check the box in order to agree with the terms of service:
Now this is where it gets a bit hard! After you fill in your email & password, you will notice this box staring at you:
Fortunately, it doesn’t want your location so you won’t need a VPN, BUT it wants you to solve a Chinese Captcha ???
I’m not joking:
Don’t panic yet! All you have to do is look carefully at the “bold” letters, and try to find them inside the image. I had to pick 3 letters out of 4 in the image above, so nailed it with the first try:

We’re not done yet though, we also need to provide a phone number, for SMS verification:
Make sure to click the link that will let you input an international number, then good luck finding your country out of the list ?
Once you manage to find it, just put your phone number, and click the blue button shown in the image above, to initiate the SMS. I received a 6-digit code within a matter of seconds, so just input it left of the button you just pressed, and click on confirm.
Update 10/02/2020: It looks like NetEase doesn’t really enjoy poor westerners joining their game anymore, and they no longer accept international phone numbers. ? I can’t really help you get your hands on a Chinese SIM unfortunately, but I’m sure that a (careful) google search can solve this for you.
You are also going to need a VPN that supports Chinese servers like NordVPN, or ExitLag if you also want to boost your PING.
That’s it! Almost.. In the next page you will be notified that you need to verify your email address, so just login to your email, and click the link inside of it.
Most probably it will end up in the spam folder, so just look for a Chinese email in there! (I hope it’s the only one you’ll have ? – the sender looks like this: 网易帐号中心 <passport@service.netease.com>).
Time to pat your own back! You have a Justice Online account, and are now ready to go!
Simply head back to the launcher, enter your details as explained above, and login to your account.
As soon as the download is complete, you will be able to start the game!

Hi, here with the latest update on 30/05/2023, you can download the game launcher and click register by phone number. I’m from Malaysia and my friends are from Indonesia and Japan, they’re are all able to log in with their own country phone numbers.

Nope, as of today i can confirm they have removed the international number option when registering your account. That option is no longer there for player to click. GG

We are using Google Captcha, there’s tons of ways to implement it depending on your installation!
I guess I came late to the game because they’re not even letting gmail accounts register, it gives me an error and I’ve tried to do it with @live and @yahoo and the same error. I guess I missed out on the chance to play this beautiful mmo T_T
That’s unfortunate Krysti, maybe if you tried to get a free email account with a popular Chinese provider?
Unfortunately, I’m really not sure how much has China moved forward with enforcing total surveillance over their citizens, as I suspect that the signup process in the game is also a way to verify you as an entity recognized by the Chinese government, and restricting you accordingly.
Oh well, I do hope we get a global release sooner than later!

I would try a PC restart, and then a full uninstall and re-install of the client!

just go to mail.163.com and create a free Chinese email and you wont even have to register. when it ask for phone number verification on creating the email select us +1 it wont show that it changed but it did. just enter in your phone number and hit next and you should receive a verification text. once done boom just use the email to login into the game launcher to start downloading and play the game. Do not try and register to justice online with the the new email you don’t have to. Just login into the launcher with the email and password you created.

Well, the download is around 40GB if I’m not mistaken, and the launcher does bug out occasionally.
Every time I try to install the game on the client, it keeps telling me it doesn’t have the resource or something? I don’t have much detail since I’m using Google Translate, so I have no idea what’s going on…

Did you try to completely uninstall and start the process again? I’ve seen a few users solving this “resource missing” problem this way!
I also suggest to let it do a complete download, before you start trying to login etc.
Hey I tried putting in my phone but there was no option to click for an international number. I hope they didn’t remove it.
I think you just have to manually type the country extension in the field, the country picker is no longer there!

It seems my comment was deleted. But I am unable to create the account because there isnt an option to switch the phone number to an international phone number now. And because I am not from China, I cant get past this stage

I know Nis, sadly the only solution is to get a Chinese phone number to pass through the verification.

I’m afraid the only thing you can do now Chloe, is get your hands on a Chinese SIM. Be quite careful though, because it will be easy to get scammed!

Hi. I was make the registration and started the game. Even use a fals ID to play. (Cous it’s only accept a chinese one) But now the game is dont let me in, cous about the new childe protect law or something. Is any way I can play somehow? Or any hope it gat a western server or anything? Unfortunatly a can’t play a lot whit it, but it’s a butifull game and a raly want to continue gaming.

I tried to register an acc but i never got an email even when I click on send again. I tried 2 different email adresses and nothing happened.
Did you make sure it didn’t end up in the Spam folder?

A great tip from Lazy Peon, is to use this site in order to generate a Chinese ID that you can use in-game, and bypass the requirement.
I can’t seem to register a account, i made an email, a password, did the gacha but whenever i click the next step button its pops up with this red font that I had translated and it said ‘this account is not in the master hand book’ or it said ‘this account is not registered’ which is why I’m on the the registration page so I’m just not sure what I’m doing wrong
Hmm, haven’t seen that error before Sammi. Did you follow the correct registration link?
Both of the errors you are witnessing, indicate that you are trying to login, and not register a new account! You can never be sure with Chinese, so I also suggest using the Google Translate app on your phone, which will let you point the camera on the screen, and make sense of what’s going on!
I had the same issues too but only when I’m trying to use my yahoo account. It’s probably because there was an underscore in it. It was fine when I type in my gmail account.
That sounds weird! I think it’s more probable they don’t allow yahoo account for some reason, than the underscore affecting this.
