Two players can tackle the single campaign together, sharing in some of the most adrenaline-fueled segments of the game. One player could be busy shooting an alien in the face, and the other friend will be having a blast with their chainsaw or flamethrower, burning those extrarestial threats to a barbecue. Whatever you do, Gears of War 2 will send you to the battlefield already armed with, not a weapon at your hand, but a trusted combatant by your side.

The Halo franchise needs no introduction. It’s a hallmark title in the first-person shooting genre and the best to grace it as a whole. Halo Reach, the sixth installment in the franchise, is a fantastic entry that exhibited Microsoft’s competence to compete against Sony on a large scale. Halo Reach, considered by many as a strong contender in the series, plunges players into the merciless battlefield where they experience an unforgettable journey via split-screen Co-Op.
Reach serves as a prequel, allowing players to participate in important acts that kick off the franchise, setting the stage for the main events in the series. What sets this game apart is the sense of relentless action felt throughout. While Reach’s dialogue and storyline may not surpass the legendary trilogy, it makes up for that with its breathtaking environmental presentation, mesmerizing music, and fluid shooting segments that make the entire experience worth it.

Sent to Africa to hunt down Wesker, the villain every aficionado once had a crush on, and uncover the schemes of the Umbrella Corporation. Rayman Legends was a surprise hit in 2013 and continues to impress even today. Developed and published by Ubisoft, this 2D side-scroller exudes perfection with enchanting visuals, a beautiful selection of soundtracks, and robust cooperative features.
The game’s fantastic level design is perfect for co-op play. Not only can you compete against a friend on challenging platforming levels, but you can also support each other throughout the entirety of the game’s main campaign. And if you haven’t had enough of Legends, try its predecessor, Origins—it’s just as good.

While we could recommend every Lego game in existence for its great co-op gameplay, let’s focus on a few for now. One of our favorites is Lego Jurassic World. It’s based on the massively popular movie and retells its events with a touch of Lego charm.
This Lego iteration of Jurassic World is fun, boasting solid graphics and responsive controls on the Xbox 360 that still impresses today. The game faithfully adapts the film, offering solid action-adventure gameplay and a memorable collection of events worth sinking hours into. It’s a good game worth experiencing with anyone, anywhere, anytime.

It’s been a long time since Ubisoft released a game like Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Aside from Rainbow Six Siege, there hasn’t been anything quite like it. Fortunately, the game is still available to play today.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 puts you in the shoes of tactical soldiers tasked with accomplishing missions on a wide scale. Whether it’s rescuing hostages, taking down armed hostiles, or employing tactical strategies, the game pays close attention to the surroundings and places high emphasis on commands to achieve missions.
Send a soldier to the opposite corner on your left while placing another near a door. Blow out the door, and take down the hostiles in the most tactical way possible, without getting a scratch. Tactical knowledge is your power in Vegas 2. Use it to your advantage.

Lost Planet 2 was the pinnacle of the series, with a fluid co-op system, intense combat, and a variety of weapons that left everyone in awe. However, Lost Planet 3 was a letdown, presenting a disappointingly average third-person shooter that can easily be forgotten.
Lost Planet 2 is unforgettable. It features excellent third-person shooting mechanics and the freedom to pilot a powerful mech and blast aliens is the icing on the cake. Plus, replaying levels with a friend always leads to memorable moments, like watching them struggle to flee from enormous alien threats. Or, begging for help before they’re two pixels away from death.

There’s something about zombie games that makes them suitable as co-op experiences. Perhaps it’s the feeling of struggling against an army of zombies or being chased down by them that makes them fun. Whatever the reason, they’re a blast.
Left for Dead 2 exemplifies this perfectly. The zombies in this second installment show no mercy. The moment you’re caught on their radar, they start running towards you in abundance. That’s where Left 4 Dead 2’s co-op shines. Up to two players can survive hell together via split-screen co-op, or four can muster their strength and take it to online co-op. Whatever happens, keep your eyes peeled because there’s always a zombie slowly climbing behind you to—

Catherine will seduce you into falling into its mysterious world, full of puzzles to solve. Developed by Atlus, known for their Shin Megami Tensei & Persona games, Catherine was a surprise when it launched.
There’s no trace of JRPG grind here, but the puzzles will undoubtedly challenge your brain (to the point of grinding). The premise of Catherine is straightforward: work your way to the top before everything you’re standing on falls into the abyss. It sounds easy, but it’s not.
While Catherine may not transport you to worlds like the Battlefield of Halo Reach or the enchanting realm of Rayman Legends, its unique appeal lies in its captivating puzzles and mysterious storyline. The game even features a couch co-op mode, though it can only be unlocked after completing the single-player story mode.

Warriors Orochi 3 may not be everyone’s cup of coffee, but it’s my cup of tea. While not everyone enjoys mowing down hordes of soldiers on-screen, some do. If you’re tired of brain-stimulation games, Musou will provide a brainless experience.
Jump into the battlefield solo or with a trusted friend via split-screen co-op, and enjoy the action. There’s nothing quite like one warrior single-handedly taking down thousands of enemies in the most unimaginable ways. Your friend can choose to participate or simply watch. I’d say the former is the best choice.

Lego Batman: The Videogame offers a unique take on the Dark Knight, where Batman isn’t breaking bones and necks but making enemies disappear into small Lego shards.
Developed by Traveller’s Tale, this Lego iteration of Batman is captivating from the first minutes of gameplay. With easy-to-understand mechanics, engaging level design, and occasional funny dialogues, it’s a great co-op game on the Xbox 360.

The world of De Blob 2 is truly magical. Who wouldn’t love the idea of coloring barren cities devoid of color, crushed by ink? Ironically, Ink is the villain of the game.
De Blob 2 is a 3D platformer with a focus on bringing life to colorless cities. You’ll splash trees with green, buildings with blue, cars with yellow, and more. However, the co-op features in this game feel lacking. The second player is reduced to a side character who cannot perform the basic activities De Blob can. It’s a perfect choice for a young child or a gaming parent, but those expecting more may be disappointed.

To fight a group of terrorists, you need an Army of Two. Once hailed as one of the best tactical third-person shooters, Army of Two spawned a third sequel but ultimately killed any hopes for a fourth game. It’s unfortunate because this series held promising potential.
However, if you’re discovering this game for the first time, you’re in luck because it’s a blast from the past. Army of Two: The 40th Day introduces genuinely interesting concepts like the co-op playbook, allowing players to scan enemies prior to engaging and prepare team tactics beforehand. Additionally, the aggro system gives two players control over enemy attacks, altering the outcome of firefights. It’s this unique combination of intense action shooting and tactical planning that makes Army of Two the 40th Day stand out on this list.

We’re concluding this list with two games as a bonus made by the same developer; Castle Crashers & Alien Hominid. Both are fun side-scrollers, with beautiful cartoonish art-style and an engaging co-op system.
Castle Crashers is a 2D beat’em up that can support up to four players on the same field either online or locally. Players will navigate through multiple levels, hacking, slashing, and smashing enemies in an arcade-like style that promises a genuinely fun time.
On the other hand, Alien Hominid is a run-and-gun game reminiscent of classic shooters like Metal Slug. The goal in this game is as straightforward as a bullet; shoot everything in the vicinity. And if the game proves to be difficult, summon a friend from outer space. It always helps.
Thank you for reading.
