Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem is an action-adventure horror video game, the game was developed exclusively for the Gamecube system and still to this day. The story follows Alexandra Roivas, a girl investigating the murder of her grandfather. While exploring her grandfather’s mansion Alex finds a mysterious book made from human skin and bones.  The book takes Alex to different cursed individuals through history uncovering their stories and eventually uncovering the mysterious murder of her grandfather.

The game is seen from a third-person perspective offering the classic look of early survival horror with some tweaks here and there. The combat is mostly meleed where the player attacks specific body part of the monsters for example decapitating an enemy will leave him blind and so on. There are many types of enemies including zombie-like mutants, skeletons, vampires, and many more. Also unique to the game is the sanity meter, once spotted by a monster the player’s sanity meter will decrease,  once it decreases the player might experience some crazy events. Overall, this is a horror game to the core many players still consider this one of the best games in the genre to this day.

Resident Evil 4 is a survival horror third-person shooter game, this game defined modern TPS shooters alongside the gear of wars series. Agent Leon is back for another adventure, now the president daughter is kidnapped and Leon has to investigate the incident leading him to Spain. The player control Leon from a third-person perspective, the camera change when aiming to give a shoulder view which offers a whole new experience compared to the previous games.

The gameplay focuses on action and shooting elements with additional survival horror features, you have an arsenal of weapons at your service varying from pistols, knives, explosives, and sniper rifles, in addition when aiming you have a laser pointer allowing precise shooting control. The main enemies of the game are zombie-like creatures known as Ganado’s. Still, to the opposite of your typical zombies, Ganado’s are stronger, faster, and smarter qualifying them to use weapons throw projectiles, and many more. Overall, the Gamecube version is solid, offering decent graphics, stable framerates, and of course, the great Gamecube controller is well worth it.

Hunter The Reckoning was originally a tabletop role-playing game developers took the chance to translate it into an action-adventure hack n slash game and i believe they succeeded. The story revolves around a prison called Ashcroft Penitentiary a prison located in a dark gothic world, now taken by vampires you take control of a vengeful spirit coming back for revenge against them.

The game is seen from a slightly top-down view, the goal of each stage is to fight and kill hordes of enemies including the zombies. The player can use ranged and melee weapons alongside magic attacks too. You can control four different hunters each with its own weapon, skills, and stat. After each stage, the player can upgrade the character stat including strength, speed, hp, and many more. On the whole, the premise of the game is simple but still very fun and addictive if you like this one there is more to the series on the PlayStation 2 system.

Resident Evil – Code: Veronica was originally released as a Dreamcast exclusive, eventually the game was released on other consoles including the X version on the Nintendo Gamecube. Code Veronica takes place three months after the events of Resident Evil 2, after raiding the umbrella corps facility searching for her brother, Claire Redfield finds herself captured in a prison complex owned by the umbrella corps, suddenly during the detainment claire finds out that the prison has been infected with the T-virus turning everyone into Zombies, now with the prison inmate Steve she must find a way to escape the facility.

The gameplay is hugely similar to the previous titles in the series, including the tank controls, a third-person look, exploring, collecting items, puzzle-solving, and fighting zombies. However, new to the game is the camera, it’s more flexible than the previous games, following the player instead of the classic fixed cameras. If you like some slow pace gameplay, a lot of backtracking and thinking with heavy puzzle elements this is definitely your next game.

The Timesplitters duology was ahead of its time offering a goofy story with amazing gameplay elements that still hold up to this day. Timesplitters 2 follows the story of two space marines as they try to save time from an evil alien race. Future Perfect continues from where its predecessor left offering a new adventure with some great additional ideas.

Both games are first-person shooters offering classic gameplay with cartoonish graphics. The player can use a huge variety of weapons including handguns, rifles, machineguns, flamethrowers, and many more. The game is divided into different levels each taking place in a different era, on each level the player is required to complete a specific objective to advance to the next level. While the series has a simple premise still the great humor and amazing cast hold this game to be one of the most enjoyable games on the system.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds is an action beat-them-up game, the game is based on a supernatural drama series holding the same name. The story follows Buffy as she tries to take on The First, a reincarnation of evil trying to put the world into darkness. Together with her friends, Buffy must fight vampires, zombies, and demons to reach her goal.

While the story might seem cheesy and overused, the gameplay is fairly good. The game is seen from a third-person perspective, where the player can use various weapons to beat the enemies. Weapons can vary depending on the chosen characters. Most weapons are melee based including hand-to-hand combat, a knife, and a sword. Graphic wise the game aged very well offering accurate character models and surprisingly good combat physics. On the whole, the game is fine, i think the fans of the series will enjoy it more but still, i recommend it for beat-them-up fans too.

Judge Dredd: Dredd vs. Death is an action-adventure first-person shooter, the game took inspiration from a comic fictional character under the name of Judge Dredd. The game follows the tale of Judge a well-respected law enforcer. After a mysterious incident turns the city population into zombies and vampires, Judge must find the mastermind behind all of this, and bring him to justice.

The game is seen from a first-person perspective. Playing as Judge the player uses weapons to fire at hostile enemies, however shooting an unarmed enemy or a civilian will cause the law meter to deplete leading to a game over screen. Up to 12 chapters are available in the story mode, and an additional arcade and multiplayer mode. Generally speaking, the game is decent offering a simple yet fun premise.
