Of course, a list of the best puzzle games would be incomplete without a Tetris game. Tetris Party Deluxe was an expansion of a digital-only game released on the Wii. This port adds more to the table with more content, a physical release, and some enhanced visuals. While the game is still a Tetris title to the core, developers made sure to add many multiplayer modes for party lovers as the title says.
The multiplayer versus mode support up to four players at the same time, but that’s not all of it the game offers over seven game modes including a co-op Tetris mode, a balance board mode and so many more. While the game doesn’t add more compared to other Tetris titles, Party Deluxe offers a very fun and enjoyable experience on the Wii, especially on the multiplayer side.

Puzzle Quest brilliantly combines elements of both hardcore RPG and casual match-three puzzles like Bejeweled. The player chooses a character at the beginning and embarks on a journey to slay monsters, complete quests, and travel around the world. But that’s not a puzzle game right, well the trick here is that combat is very different compared to a traditional RPG. Instead of turn-based combat elements; fights are done by playing a tile-matching puzzle.
If you’re don’t know what a rile matching puzzle, it’s simply a board filled with different colored gems, the goal is to manipulate the line to match the gems with others of the same colors. While the premise seems very simple, the game adds more depth with heavy RPG elements like leveling, equipment, and unique abilities. If you’re looking for a solid puzzle title with a pinch of RPG goodness this game is a no-brainer.

Roogoo: Twisted Towers offer a unique perspective that can be both hit and miss among puzzle fans. The main premise of the game is rotating various discs that contain differently shaped holes, the goal is to wait for a geometric piece to fall from the sky and start rotating the discs to let the shape pass through the disc holes in a row.
The geometric piece that falls from the sky includes a star, cube, cylinder, heart, and triangle. Again, while the premise seems simple the game challenges your reflexes where you must keep an eye on every disc and go back and forth between discs to let the geometric shape pass up to the last disc. If you like what you are reading and enjoy some hardcore challenge pick up this game.

Octomania is what I would call a very Japanese puzzle game, the game’s chibi art style and cutesy music fit well with the overall atmosphere of the game and the puzzles are of course very casual since the overall feel is fuzzy and warm. Overall the game is a three-match puzzle game with extra steps, the goal of each game is to rotate colorful octopuses to bring them to a net.
If the player moves a number of the same colored octopus on the net, the octopus in the net alongside other octopuses that are connected to the line disappear. Successfully matching the octopuses will throw obstacles at your enemies eventually resulting in his defeat, so the main challenge of the game is rotating and matching the octopuses as fast as possible. While the game might seem very simple and budgeted and it is, players who enjoy short gaming sessions like myself would enjoy this game since you can pick it up and play for like 10 min to 15 min and have a blast.

Rubik’s World takes the classic Rubik’s Cube and brings it to the Wii world with the help of the motion controls and the unique Wii Mote features. While many puzzle titles in this game are for casual players, this one is hardcore, and by hardcore, I mean hardcore puzzlers. The goal varies from one mode to the other but mostly the goal is to change up the cube to match the required colors on your left screen.
The player can do this by pointing at the cube and swapping its sides using the Wii mote. As always the game starts off with some fairly easy levels to get a hold of the controls and how to swap and change the cube, but after a few levels, the game challenge picks up to some of the hardest and most frustrating levels that will challenge your mind.

Bust a Move Bash continues the legacy of the amazing series by implementing the same simple premise with some visuals and technical tweaks. Similar to the original Puzzle Bobble the goal is to guide colorful marbles and shoot them at other marbles to match their colors.
The Wii adds more to the table with the ability to use the Wii mote as a pointer to guide the balls or use the classic controls using the D-pad. Multiplayer wise the game allows up to eight players at the same time to compete against each other in addition to a dozen of playable characters including both old and new characters.

Out of all titles on this list Marble Saga is my favorite. Its simple premise, colorful nature, and childish atmosphere make it one of the most fun and enjoyable puzzle games I have ever played. While tilt control is morbidly hated among the gaming community, Marble Saga might change your perspective on tilt control.
The controls were almost perfected to fit the gameplay in a very fun and enjoyable method, the goal on each stage is to tilt the environment to move a marble across the stage and reach the finish line while collecting various collectibles. While this might sound easy the game offers a high level of creativity with well-detailed levels and some challenging parts across the later levels.

Boom Blox is another title that feels right at home with the Wii motion controls. The main goal of the game is to shoot a wall of geometrical squares while using the fewest moves possible. For example, you can start pulling the squares out of the wall to bring it down, or you can aim and shoot at the wall to bring it down in no time. The game offers a wide range of levels which can take a very long time to complete and some multiplayer options that can serve as an amazing party setting even for non-gamers.

World of Goo is one of the greatest Wii Ware titles on the Wii, unfortunately, the game’s success was not enough to pop up a physical release, but still, the title is too good to be ignored. The core of the game is a physics-based puzzler in which the player must use gooey balls to build bridges for other balls of goo that will eventually take them to the level’s exit. The game adds more elements with different terrain, challenges, and even different type of Goo with unique abilities. Content-wise the game includes up to 48 levels that can be finished, with the option to go back and complete new challenges on each one.
