Breath of the Wild - How to Defeat Guardians

Guardians are one of the toughest enemies in BOTW if you exclude the main bosses. They come in many shapes and forms including land ones or even flying Guardians. They are found in various locations throughout the land, usually near ancient Shrines and other important locations. Mostly the Guardians are equipped with a laser beam that can kill Link in one shot especially if you try to confront them early on in the game.

Today we are here to offer you our best tips to take down these fearsome robots. Just keep in mind that we do not recommend engaging a guardian early on in the game since one little mistake can lead to the Game Over screen.

Parrying

Alright, this method is pretty simple but it requires some skills and good timing. You need to gear up with a strong shield if not multiple shields to play it safe if one shield brake. Head up to the guardian keep a good distance and raise your guard.

Focus on the guardian’s eye once you see a flashing light hit the parry button. If you’re successful the laser beam with recoil right back toward the guardian doing some decent damage. Once again keep focusing and repeat the same process over and over until it collapses.

Daruk’s Protection

This is by far the easiest method but it requires Daruk’s Protection which can be gained by calming one of the Divine Beasts, Vah Rudania. Assuming you have already done that all you need is to hold down the guard button while facing the Guardian.

Once the guardian shoots his laser beam the ability will trigger automatically deflecting the laser beam. This method is ideal for people who find it hard to parry but its only downside is the number of uses. You can use this ability three times in a row and then you’ll have to wait 18 minutes to recharge.

Master Sword

This method is yet another ideal way to take down Ganon’s minions. All you need is to get Master Sword, if you don’t know how to get it fear not as we got you covered in this guide. Assuming you’re already geared up let’s dive in! This strategy requires you to be fast, as long as you’re fast you will take minimal to no damage. Raise your shield and wait for the laser beam once the laser beam is launched rush toward the guardian’s legs.

Spamming the attack button using the Master sword will work like a charm since it’s made for this kind of situation. The sword will start breaking the legs of the guardian one by one until it back off and uncover the bottom of the robot. Once you can see its bottom keep attacking until the robot falls down.

Ancient Arrows

Ancient arrows are yet another effective method to finish off the guardians as fast as possible. So first thing first you need to gear up with a good bow and some Ancient Arrows. The easiest way to get Ancient Arrows is to craft them at Akkala Ancient Tech Lab using ancient materials.

Alright, once you’re ready head back toward your guardian, you need to be fast and keep moving to avoid the laser beam. At the same time, you need to aim at the guardian’s eye. Mostly three Ancient Arrows are enough to take down the guardian.

Using a Multiple Shot Bow

Okay, back to work just like the Ancient Arrows method you need to keep moving to avoid the deadly laser beam. Once you’re safe aim at the eye, the powerful bow will be more than enough to deal some good damage even with normal arrows. If you want to use more powerful arrows, it will be more effective and faster.

Don’t be shy to try different methods. In the end, there is no definitive way to defeat these bad boys. Once you’re on the field just use what you have on your hands, or even use a combination of two methods. For example, you can use a combination of Daruk’s Protections and melee back and forth.
