The Hinoxes are one of many mini-bosses in the realm of BOTW, they come in four forms including normal Hinox, Blue Hinox, Black Hinox, and Stalnox. These monsters are relatively easy to defeat if you know what you are doing, and it can come with a great benefit since defeating them reward the player with a bunch of meals and weapons including bows, sword, and spears.
Today we are here to offer you the most effective way to defeat these fearsome monsters. these methods include some of the well-known ways and a few unorthodox ones if you like to play it differently. Whether you’re still a newbie with few heart containers and weak weapons or you’re fully geared from head to toe we got you all covered with our ultimate guide.
Alright, this method is the classic way and it is the most effective if you’re short on gear. All you need is a decent bow with a dozen of arrows and a one-handed sword. You can shoot the Hinox to wake him up, once he’s up keep your distance and shoot at the eye. Once you’ll do a successful shot the Hinox will cover its eye and sit, this is your chance to do some damage.
Rush toward the Hinox and use your one-handed sword to deal some damage to its legs. Don’t ease up since the Hinox will stand shortly and start attacking you if you stay near its legs, once he’s up just run in the other direction and aim for the eye one more time and repeat the same process, and voila you’re done you can enjoy you’re well deserved spoil!
This is the simplest way as long as you got a decent bow and steady hands, but just keep in mind that will take some time so some additional bows wouldn’t hurt. All you need is a dozen of normal arrows, keep your distance and aim for the eye. Once the Hinox is stunned shower him with arrows and always keep a look on his eye once it’s in your sight aim for it. As long as you keep your distance while shooting the Hinox will eventually fall to his death.
Shock Arrows are fairly effective dealing slightly better damage compared to normal arrows. The easiest way to get these bad boys is to head to Gerudo Towns’ special shop, you can stock up there and head back to the Hinox location. As always keep your distance and aim for the eye, even when the monster covers its eye just keep shooting until its HP reaches 0.
Bomb arrows are my favorite method to take down Hinoxes, the arrows deal some sick damage confusing the monster and taking it down in no time. As always you need a decent bow and a dozen of bomb arrows. You can get these arrows easily while visiting the arrow shop in Rito village once you’re good to go head back to the Hinox location. Once again this is as simple as it gets, you need to just keep aiming at the Hinox head until it falls down.
This method is a bit advanced since you need to complete one of the main dungeons in BOTW. Upon calming the Divine Beast Vah Noboris and eventually taking down the Thurderblight Ganon, Link will gain access to Urbosa’s Fury. Assuming you have already calmed the divine beast all you need to do is to approach the Hinox while crouching and charge a spin attack with any weapon in your hands. This will deal huge damage to the Hinox and stun it for a short amount of time, once it’s stunned you can reuse the fury for a second and third time until the monster is defeated.
Mostly the Hinox will drop a necklace containing some decent weapons. As well as some monster parts that can be used to make some powerful potions. In addition, the monster drops some decent meals that can be used later. For example, here I got a pair of two powerful weapons, a Royal Bow and a Royal Halberd so it was well worth it all the way.
