Starfield is the latest Bethesda game, and their new IP and you’re probably wondering if there are mods for it. Well, look no further as the modding community has already started making mods, in what is now a tradition for Bethesda fans. Most of these mods will aim to improve your experience and elevate your game to a whole new level. These will range from quality-of-life mods to small gameplay tweaks.

As always these mods are available to download on NexusMods, and with this list, you will probably save valuable time scrolling through them. So, here’s a list of Starfield mods, that can in my opinion improve your game experience.

Table of Contents

Starfield Community Patch

Author: StarfieldCommunityPatch
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/1

It took some time for the Community Patch to arrive, but it is easily one of the most important mods for the game. It is a community effort to fix Starfield’s bugs, errors, and other issues that may occur in the game.

This mod includes tweaks, changes, and fixing of typos, those that aren’t currently fixed by developers so far. Its goal is to fix the vanilla experience of Starfield until those fixes are handled by Bethesda. The Community Patch doesn’t include things such as balance changes or new content and is intended to fix the bugs in the original release.

Achievement Enabler

Author: Priqrade
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/252

Just like any other Bethesda game, if you go through the console commands or cheats, there is a risk that your achievements will not work. This can be problematic for completionists out there so, here’s an easy fix.

The Achievement Enabler will simply override this notion and allow you to earn achievements even if you have used the console commands or cheats, during your playthrough.

Starfield Performance Optimization

Author: E3roKK
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/104

Starfield currently isn’t the most optimized game on the market, and a simple look at the game requirements will tell you the same. Starfield Performance Optimization is actually a mod pack, which comes with a bunch of tweaks to help the game run a bit more smoother.

However, if you’re still not having the best performance, you may want to change some of your settings as well. This mod aims to help you achieve the best possible framerate, which your configuration can support.

Starfield Frame Generation

Author: LukeFZ564
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/761

Here’s another mod that is designed to focus on better performance in the game. Since Starfield has been released with only FSR2 support, it is also vastly inferior to the other tools such as DLSS which is more commonly found on many PCs. This makes the Frame Generation mod, one of the most essential mods to have for players with RTX graphics cards.

Without going into technical details, for most players, this will mean a big improvement when it comes to FPS, without major graphical differences. It does require a Nvidia RTX, however DLSS3 with Frame Generation turned on, is ideal when it comes to tools that run well and look well at the same time.

StarUI Inventory

Author: m8r98a4f2
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/773

For some inexplicable reason, the original Bethesda UIs are often lacking in design. So, here’s StarUI to fix that problem and make your game a lot easier and more enjoyable. It’s a simple mod, similar to that one Skyrim mod (SkyUI), and it will show a lot more information on the screen, giving you a more organized look.

Additionally, it will give the game a more organized and fresh look, since obviously, Bethesda is lacking in the UI design, which makes this mod a must-have.

Icon Sorting Tags

Author: mcguffin
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/312

While we’re on the topic of better UI design, an essential mod would be this one. This simple yet effective mod will add small icons next to each item, saving you a lot of time when it comes to sorting or browsing your inventory.

The mod will be especially useful to newbies, and as a bonus it’s also compatible with StarUI Inventory.

BetterHUD

Author: KhaoMaat
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/214

Better HUD will help you make the screen much more manageable, and player friendly. The XP bar and location text can be shrunk to a much more reasonable size, and if needed placed at the bottom of the screen. Other things such as enemy health and hit markers, can be disabled and the crosshairs can be set to show up only during combat.

It’s another simple quality-of-life mod, with several preferences to help you customize your game and make it a bit more enjoyable.

Scanner Encumbrance Display

Author: YoddleBerry
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/963

Since it’s very easy to get encumbered in Starfield and it can get annoying really fast. So, why not have a mod, to help you manage just that? This mod will display the weight capacity on your compass while pushing the temperature and gravity indicators to the side.

This will make it easier to see how close you are to being encumbered by simply opening the hand scanner.

No More Zoomed In Dialogue Camera

Author: walmont
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/521

The forced zoom on NPC characters, when talking and interacting with them is outdated and honestly immersion-breaking. As the name of the mod suggests, it will remove the dialogue zoom, and you’ll be able to walk and talk during the interactions, adding more immersion to the game.

Also, this mod makes it so Starfield no longer limits your view, every single time you interact with an NPC.

Enhanced Dialogue Interface

Author: Seb263
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/871

A simple mod that gives the dialog screen a more modern look. It removes the black boxes, centering the text on the screen and giving it more space.

Enhanced Dialogue Interface also gives you plenty of optimization options, where you can change text color, color, font size and other additional things usually associated with text. It’s one of the most popular mods, and once you give it a try, it may prove difficult to go back to the vanilla dialogue screen.

In-Game FOV Changer

Author: NexusGuy999
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/302

Since there’s a concerning lack of FOV options in Starfield, as it’s nonexistent. So, one of the popular solutions to this problem is an In-Game FOV Changer. It’s an more easier and player-friendly solution, without needing to go tweaking the .ini files. The mod also allows you to customize both first-person and third-person points of view, rather quickly.

As a quick reminder, the default FOV in Starfield is 85 for first-person and 70 for third-person. With this mod you can easily set it beyond 90, or find the parameters that best suit your play style.

Dark Mode for Terminals

Author: animandan
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/861

This mod does exactly what its name says. When interacting with various terminals in Starfield, may be a bit too bright for your taste, giving you trouble reading the text.

Dark Mode for Terminals will give every terminal in the game, a nice dark mode, with a simple black background making texts, much easier to read. It’s a must-have for those players who are interested in the lore of the game.

Neutral LUTs – No Color Filters

Author: fadingsignal
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/323

While the color filters in Starfield are fine, there are still troubles in a few places. It’s important to note that Neutral LUTs isn’t a reshade mod, as it will only remove the artificial filters, from every planet or moon in the game.

Essentially, it will remove the gray, green, and blue shades that are present in the vanilla Starfield, giving it a more natural look. This mod will also give you a nice deep black if you’re using an OLED screen. It’s important to note, that there are no requirements for this mod, and it works on just about any setup that you might have.

120 FPS Smooth UI

Author: Fuzzlesz
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/497

Playing Starfield you might have noticed that some elements of UI can get a bit choppy in some places. This is because Starfield actually renders all of its UI elements and HUDs at 30 FPS, which can often look weird, especially if you have a great PC.

This mod will give all UI elements 120 FPS, making them run at a much smoother pace., without any choppiness or stutters during the HUD or menu transitions. In a case that 120 FPS seems a bit excessive, there is also a 60 FPS version of this mod by the same author.

Quick and Clean Main Menu

Author: CrEaToXx
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/418

This mod will get rid of health warnings and an intro video, that plays when you launch Starfield and shows you the main menu, with only the Starfield logo and menu on the left side of the screen.

Quick and Clean Main Menu, also removes the Bethesda logo, message of the day, and other unnecessary things that clutter the main menu. There are several similar mods out there, but this one is one of the cleanest mods available.

Enhanced Player Healthbar

Author: SilverEzredes
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/454

This mod will change the color of your healthbar, depending on how much health you have left. It will start out as white, then turn orange, and end with red if you’re really low on health.

Enhanced Player Healthbar is particularly useful as it allows you to track your health at a glance, during a chaotic combat scene.

Ship HUD Tweaks

Author: Stentorious
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/5518

Similarly to most HUD mods, Ship HUD Tweaks offers you a large variety of useful things. One of them is the option for auto repairs when the hull falls under a certain previously set percentage.

The other big thing that the mod adds, is the option to add mouse inertion when traveling through space, giving you more control and ease of access. This mod is a great addition if you’re looking to fine-tune those finer things in the game.

Ship Builder Tolerance Tweaks

Author: NexusGuy999
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/388

One of the most impressive things in Starfield is its ship-building systems, however, they too come with certain limitations. Most of these limitations are minor, but they can still hamper the experience, so some tweaks are in order.

The Ship Builder Tolerance Tweaks aims to solve the issue of when ship modules overlap just slightly over each other. It’s a minor thing, but this mod, will save you a lot of headaches when it comes to building your perfect ship.

Ship Skip

Author: Bub200
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/1056

Another simple mod that will allow you to skip the cutscenes for docking, landing, and taking off of your ship. It’s impressive seeing it for the first time in the game, but after that, it will become a nuisance that you will want to skip.

It’s a mystery as to why Bethesda didn’t implement a skip button, but this mod will allow you to do just that. Ship Skip as the name says, will remove those scenes completely, speeding your playthrough significantly and giving you a smooth journey.

Better NPCs

Author: nexstephen
Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/5622

At times Starfield can feel a bit lifeless, so why not try to improve upon that? Better NPCs mod will make the game a bit more realistic by giving the NPCs more life, by having them talk among themselves, or settle into idle animations.

In addition to this, they will also blink more, and will less frequently interrupt conversations, giving you a greater sense of realism. This mod was inspired by Realistic Conversations from Fallout 4, which was also a much-needed mod to that game.
