The 14th main entry in The King of Fighters franchise features one of the biggest KOF rosters, and for the first time ever – love it or hate it –Â 3D models for all the characters! It’s no secret that KOF’s detailed 2D sprites are way more expensive to create than “regular” 3D models found in any modern game, and there’s been speculation that going for 2D could seriously damage SNK’s finances.
For me, the 3D transition has been seamless, and all iconic character moves look even more impressive, while the gameplay manages to retain KOF’s high execution and option galore. If you can’t stand the 3D however, KOF XIII is definitely the ultimate modern 2D KOF experience!
