The Shrine Sensor makes its comeback to Tears of the Kingdom offering an easy way to detect nearby shrines, or even any item or creature if upgraded enough. However, the game, as usual, does not guide you to this feature. In today’s article, we’ll walk you through the process of obtaining the Shrine Sensore and upgrading it to target things and even monsters.

How To Get the Shrine Sensor?

The first requirement to get the sensor ability is finishing the main quest A Myster In the Depth, to be precise you’ll need to have the Camera Feature and the Autobuild Ability. After getting both head back to Look Out Landing and talk to Robbie, after a small discussion Robbie will tell you that he will head back to his lab in Hateno village.

A new quest will trigger marking Hateno Ancient Tech Lab Location. Once you’re there walk in the front door and talk to Robbie, after a small dialogue the Shrines Sensor ability will start working. Robbie will ask you to detect a nearby shrine location, all you need to do is keep moving in the room until the sensor beeps.

Hateno Ancient Tech Lab Location

After that Robbie will ask you one more time to find the shrine outside, by following the sensor you will find the shrine in a cave under the tech lab, activate the shrine, and go back to Robbie. Talk to him for the last time, and the Sensor Shrine is yours.

How to Upgrade the Sensor?

Upgrading the sensor is quite easy, all you need to do is head back to Robbie in the Ancient Tech Lab. After a small discussion, you can choose Sensor+ to start the upgrade quest. Robbie will ask you to fill your compendium with at least five different monsters.

In order to do that head back outside and find some monster, open the ability wheel, and choose the camera feature. Take a picture and save it to the compendium, four more monsters and you’re good to go.

Head back to Robbie for the last time to get your Sensor+, now you can target any object or creature with the sensor, making the hunting for objects and monster parts a lot easier.
